Guillamón: “Baraja wants us to be a daring, organised team with energy and intensity”
The Valencia CF midfielder talks at away kit launch
Valencia CF player Hugo Guillamón spoke about the team's preseason and the launch of the new away kit this week.
Preseason
“We are already prepared for the first game and we are looking forward to it. These first few days have been hard work, as they should be, but the truth is that we are enjoying seeing our teammates again and are preparing for what is to come.”
The new away kit
“It's very beautiful. The black colour with the golden details looks very good. The white home kit is the legendary Valencia CF strip, and this black one is going to please people a lot. The details of the Senyera look very beautiful to me. Maybe when we launch it, it gives us good luck.”
The match against CD Castellón
“We are very excited. In the end, training is good to prepare us and continue fine tuning those details that we need to get ready, but when the games come around it is the most beautiful thing. We are already looking forward to starting on Saturday."
Demanding sessions
“These are hard session that are good for us to get in shape. With the heat it is difficult, but you have to get through it. We are all gettinh ready for when the season starts and this type of work is good for us during the year. We feel it later.”
The new season
“We have a demanding schedule, but we have to focus on ourselves, on doing well, preparing as best as possible, as we always do, and in the end I am sure that, if we all have our minds set on improving and growing as a team, it will go well.
The team
“This is going to be Baraja's second full season and we have already been laying the foundations and doing what he asks of us. That is good for the team, generating those mechanisms to play by memory, getting to know each other better. It is important to continue growing and improving. Baraja wants us to be a happy team, with a lot of energy and intensity in all our actions - with and without the ball -, and above all that we stay very close when it comes to pressing and be daring with the ball. He wants us to be a team. Also he wants us to grow from defensive solidity, as last year it gave us many points. At Mestalla we have to feel strong, above all, with the support of the fans. From there, we need to show in every game that we have the hunger and ambition to continue looking upward.”
A sellout crowd against CD Castellón
“Since the beginning of the preseason, the fans have been there pushing us and supporting us, and that is positive for everyone. I like that they identify with the team, that we can feel their support, which is very important. We look forward to seeing them.”
The adaptation of new signings
“We have welcomed them very well. Some of us already knew Rafa. From day one they have integrated very well. They are two fantastic guys and they are going to help us a lot.”
Rafa Mir
“I see that he has great desire, with the ambition to grow like everyone else. He still has to learn the mechanisms, but he looks eager and that is the most important thing.”
